THE INNER HEBRIDES
The Inner Hebrides (Scottish Gaelic: Na h-Eileanan a-staigh) is an archipelago off the west coast of Mainland Scotland, to the southeast of the Outer Hebrides. There are 35 inhabited islands in the Inner Hebrides (major islands include Skye, Islay, Mull, Tiree and Coll), with a total population of around 19,000. In addition there are over 40 uninhabited islands. With its abundant wildlife, rich cultural heritage, stunning seascapes and beautiful castles, the Inner Hebrides is a haven of peace and relaxation away from the hectic pressures of urban life.
